Is better than the way we had.

I love getting new clothes. And I love to wear them as soon as possible. It’s like I have this compelling urge to show off the wonderful treasures resulting from my diligent searching of racks.
When I was younger I would usually wear my new items the day after getting them. In fact, on some occasions, I would even wear the new item(s) before even leaving the store they were purchased in.
Proof some things never change. The day I bought this dress — I wore it that night!
Dress -Target ** I love the buttons and pockets!! **

Necklace – Gift from my hubby (our first Christmas)
How long do you wait to wear a new purchase?

Necklace: Kay’s — the key to Ken’s heart — a birthday gift
I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to wear today. No combination immediately jumped in my mind as “ooh! wear me!“.
Ken called me to let me know he made it to work -part of our morning routine- so as I stood in the closet staring at the rack, our conversation included this:
him: what are you doing
me: picking out something to wear today
him: fuuun (the usual response)
after a few other statements about work, dinner and such
me: i don’t know what to wear
him: wear a skirt
me: can’t.. i need to shave
him: well… wear some pants.
Skirt: JC Penny
Footless Tights: Wal-Mart
Manicure(first ever with my real nails!): Solar Nails
p.s. I guess I did go with his first suggestion… just added tights! (they are similar to duck tape – can fix just about anything)
Why does it have to be wrong or right?
Why does it have to be one way or the other?
Won’t somebody please, please tell me.
Why does it have to be black or white? — Restless Heart
You’re Thinkin’ About My Baby
It Doesn’t Matter If You’re Black Or White — Michael Jackson
Yes, I know. Two completely different songs, but this string of lyrics popped into my head this morning when deciding to go with a black & white color scheme.
It’s just how my brain relates sometimes… in song lyrics. and movie quotes.

Since Saturday, Ken and I have been enjoying a mini vacation. It’s included shopping, the beach,
a wedding, two hotels and the French Quarter. I’ll be posting some highlights of the weekend later on,
but for now… what I’m wearing Wednesday:

Flip Flops: Rue 21
Sunglasses: TJ Maxx
Earrings: Material Girls
I love being able to wear dresses and clothes that make me feel feminine and beautiful, and I love the fact that I don’t have to all the time; I can wear a tank and jeans.

aaawww *sigh* — Valentine’s Day…
Hope you had a great one. I did.
Ken is not always the most patient person especially when it comes to gifts. He got his Valentine’s day present the day before. A single white rose and framed quote. But his card he would have to wait for!
“If I had my life to live over again…
Next time I would find you sooner so that I could love you longer.” — quote in frame
On the 14th he told me that I would be getting something delivered, that he just hoped it made it on time. Throughout the day, I saw all the other arrangements that arrived (front desk privileges) and received numerous texts from him to see if I had received anything yet. Same answer though: nope, not yet :).
Then at 4:30 my flowers finally arrived! They were so pretty and had a heart balloon 🙂
The lady that delivered them asked me if I had already received another arrangement… to which I looked confused and said nooo?…then she explained that somehow my arrangement could not be found and so the woman at the shop threw this arrangement together so that I could get one. Which I thought was nice but was still confused at how they lost the original arrangement.
When I got home I thanked Ken for my flowers and he said he was relieved that they made it. I told him the story that the delivery woman had relayed to me, he then looked closely at the arrangement and said he didn’t know if it was exactly what he ordered. He pulled up the website and double-checked what he ordered and while they were simular, was not the same.
(source) — I was even more impressed that he chose this arrangement for me! I’ve tried impressing on him the fact that I love other flowers besides standard roses — I think it’s worked!
The presentation was different, it was missing some flowers and it appeared to be a small arrangement size (he paid for large) with more greenery than flowers. Like I said, I was happy with them, they are pretty, but for what he ordered and paid for, they were not right. I urged him to email the company, he of course said I could.. so I did the next morning. The result was definitely not what we expected.. they refunded him completely and gave a $20.00 gift card. Wow, thank you.
We were planning to go out to eat but at the last minute decided to stay in exchange cards, light candles and order Hungry Howie’s pizza.. yum!
We changed into our jammies (okay, okay.. he was in lounge pants and t-shirt.. I was the one in fleece pants and my Chilly Willy shirt) and finally watched the two hour premier of Terra Nova we had been
avoiding saving for the right moment. It is a really good show and we have the whole season stored on our dvr… no waiting for new episodes! It was nothing fancy or g-l-a-m-o-r-o-u-s (thanks Fergie!) but we enjoyed spending time together.
Which brings me to the title of this post… should the concept of Valentine’s Day be only for just one day? One day set aside to show someone how much you love them? Or should it serve as a reminder of how we should view and treat our loved ones all year long? I believe that it helps us remember what it really important: set time aside to spend it with the one you love … with some extra flowers and gifts added in 😉
How do you feel about Valentine’s Day? Did you plan/do anything extra special?
Time flies when you are.. busy procrastinating.
I don’t know why I occasionally struggle with the thinking trap of ‘what I have to say isn’t interesting/important/entertaining enough to be blogged about’.
So many of the blogs I read are amazing ladies with posts full of travels and baking.. they are doing interesting things worth reading.
Worry takes control of my mind when it comes to what I want to write. Other blogs are so well written and full of funny stories and interesting facts and ventures. Who would want to read about the days of a Mississippi girl? One who works 8-5, goes home to her husband and whips together dinner, then prefers to watch tv or play a video game (or watch while hubby plays) to relax instead of filling that time with many productive things.
The same girl who strives everyday to make decent choices in food, struggling to remind herself what a normal portion size is, and include as much activity when possible. Most nights/weeks proclaiming "this is the time I will get up for an early workout" only to turn off the alarm when 5am comes. It can be tough at times… but carrying around extra weight that is not good for your body is tougher, mentally and physically.
Today I came across this quote:
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.–Theodore Roosevelt
Reading those words really struck a chord within my heart. I may not be traveling often or the world’s best amateur cook or baker, organized with every tool and ingredient possible. My blog may not be fully complete and appear professional…yet. Just because of these things doesn’t mean I shouldn’t strive to be the best I can be in the what I’m interested in. I am me. That is something no one else can be! I enjoy cooking for my husband and would like to feel more comfortable cooking for others. My hope is to expand my cooking and baking repertoire so that I will gain the confidence in presenting yummy goodies for family and others. Sharing these adventures and everyday happenings is my goal.
Let’s get to work!
I was 32 when I started cooking; up until then, I just ate.
Which shows it’s not when you start that matters, but the fact that you simply start!
